Cholesterol-lowering Pirkka Reducol range complemented by cheese slices
The Pirkka Reducol product range, jointly developed by Kesko Food and Scanvit Ltd, has been complemented by a new product – cholesterol-lowering individually wrapped cheese slices. The product is being offered for sale through Kesko stores.
Good taste and lowered fat content were key parameters in the development of the new product. The new cheese slices contain only 10 % of fat. In addition to the cheese slices the cholesterol lowering Pirkka Reducol range contains five flavors of low lactose jogurts: buckthorn, strawberry, raspberry, cranberry and natural.
The active ingredient in the product range is Reducol, a mixture of plant stanols and sterols processed from tall oil. Clinical research have proven that using foods with Reducol ingredients lowers cholesterol levels efficiently and safely. In addition to Finland, foods with Reducol ingredients are widely available in Europe and North America.
Reducol™ is an internationally patented and widely researched product. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Union (EFSA) have recognised it as a safe and efficient health-promoting ingredient for lowering cholesterol levels.
