Cholesterol-lowering Pirkka Reducol product range launched
In cooperation with Kesko Food, Scanvit Ltd. has launhed a first-in-Europe cholesterol lowering private label product range. The first products in the new range will be yogurts incorporating Forbes’ cholesterol-lowering ingredient, Reducol™. The yogurts manufactured in Finland by Juustoportti Ltd. will be offered under the “Pirkka” premium private label name. The products will be on sale through Kesko stores in May.
The active ingredient in the new product range is Reducol, a mixture of plant stanols and sterols processed from tall oil. Clinical research have proven that using foods with Reducol ingredients lowers cholesterol levels efficiently and safely. In addition to Finland, foods with Reducol ingredients are widely available in Europe and North America.
Reducol™ is an internationally patented and widely researched product. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Union (EFSA) have recognised it as a safe and efficient health-promoting ingredient for lowering cholesterol levels.
Scanvit Ltd. works closely with Canadian Forbes MediTech Inc, the owner of the Reducol™ trademark and patents. Scanvit Ltd has an exclusive license for marketing the Forbes MediTech Inc. products in Finland and Scandinavia. The agreement enables the manufacturing of our own Reducol™-based products as well as the sale of Reducol™ in cholesterol-lowering functional foods.
